FACES: Women in Media 20 years of interactions, connections and collaborations

“FACES”, a network of women in media arts was founded in 1997 in Austria, with strong connections to Slovenia and Croatia. Since then, the network has been growing continuously and celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

FACES has built its base from meetings with communities of women around the world, in person and virtually, bringing a borderless sense of communication, giving new possibilities for creative online projects – performance, spoken word, sound, and theoretical discussion. On the initiative of the TCp on Art & Culture and the TCP on Equal Opportunities Celebrating the AAA supports a series of events in order to celebrate this 20th anniversary:

On the 1st of September at 20:00 Eva Ursprung will present the history of FACES and show some examples of the works of its members att Galerija Makina in Pula (Istria/CRO). There will be audio interviews with Boryana Rossa (Bulgaria), Helen Varley Jamison (New Zealand) and Nina Sobell (USA) followed by videos by Marina Grzinic / Aina Smid (Croatia/Slovenia), Varsha Nair (Thailand) and Myriam Thyes (Germany/Switzerland)

From the 13th to the 15th of October 2017 “Schaumbad – Freies Atelierhaus Graz” will host a symposium and exhibition which will be curated by Kathy Rae Huffman and Eva Ursprung.
The opening of the exhibition and symposium will be on October 13t at 19:00.

There will also be presentations and videoscreenings at the International Festival of Computer Arts (IFCA) in Maribor (SLO) from the 6th to the 16th of October 2017.
